Abstract: The transient voltage response of poly(vinylidenefluoride) (PVDF), a typical ferroelectric polymer, to the application of a constant charging current is studied theoretically assuming validity of the multiple trapping model of injected carriers at the localized states and considering non-linear field dependence of the irreversible polarization. Approximate analytical solutions are obtained and their reliability is tested by numerical computation. The value of the free-carrier mobility is determined by comparing the experimentally observed u(t) kinetics with the corresponding curve reconstructed from the phenomenological model.
